The only clash of the round of 16 that did not take place this Thursday was the one between Sharks and B4, rescheduled for this Friday at 17:00 (Brasília time) due to an internet problem involving a member of the Tubarões, as reported by the organization on Twitter.
Also, this Friday, from 18:00 (Brasília time), the quarter-finals will be played. The tryouts are the last chance for teams that still dream of playing in the ESL Pro League (EPL) Season 16. The champion will qualify for the EPL Conference S16, which gives six spots to the EPL.
Forty-seven teams in the single-elimination system are playing the South American qualifier, that is, without respect. All matches up to the semifinals are in md1, while the match validating the spot will be in md3 – it is expected to start at 8 pm, according to ESEA.
Summary of EPL Conference S16 Qualifiers
São Caetano, Arctic, Stars Horizon, Meta, UNO MILLE and Los Grandes started the tryouts for the 2nd round because they didn’t have opponents in the previous one. WINDINGO was the only qualifier for the quarters that played in the opening round.
São Caetano qualified for the final clashes with triumphs over Trx Unifique Tg and ex-Blackhat. The Arctic beat Dancing Ratz and Cruzeiro, while Stars Horizon beat FirstMemory and 10org.
WINDING went through Totalega, Arena Jogue Fácil and SWS. Meta was better than PKA and River Plate. UNO MILLE defeated Player and the former Black Dragons. Los Grandes beat Redragon and Boca Juniors.
Some players of the tryouts criticized the organizer, on Twitter, concerning the number of servers available for the qualifier dispute. One of them was Gustavo “SHOOWTiME” Gonçalves.
The São Caetano player wrote, “only six servers released, and we have to wait for the other games in the sequence to roll. 200 years of CS and ESEA still hasn’t learned. Fuck the South Americans, huh?”.
In a similar tone, UNO MILLE member Victor “remix” Monteiro asked in a critical tone: “Hasn’t ESL teamed up with FACEIT? Why does it still hold championships at ESEA? pqpppppppp” (sic).
