[05] — The dossier · long-form
A documentary biography of the Slovak rifler who grew from domestic prospect into a four-time Top 20 player across MOUZ and FaZe, built from HLTV profile data, HLTV news records and verified tournament reports.
David Čerňanský plays under the name frozen. He was 24 at the time of the profile record, Slovak, and listed as a member of FaZe, with career prize money of $829,449 and a three-month Rating 3.0 of 1.13 across his recent sample. The FACEIT record runs to 5,060 matches at a 61.0 percent win rate with a 1.53 average KDR and a 33-match winning streak, the longest streak of any player in this assignment and a number that describes the volume of his formative grind. His FPL history spans both the CS:GO and CS2 eras of the European ladder, with placements in more than a dozen seasons.
The team history is the longest in this assignment: eight organisations, beginning with Neophyte from October 2015 to March 2016, when he was 13 years old, and continuing through eXtatus from March 2016 to July 2018, warmup, Majestic Lions, Gunrunners and NoChance from January to March 2019. The Slovak scene that produced him had no tier-one organisation and no academy pipeline, which meant the only route upward ran through years of European online cups against older, stronger opposition. The eXtatus spell, more than two years in his mid-teens, was the effective academy of the career: a Slovak organisation playing European online competition, giving a teenager regular matches against adults. By the time he left eXtatus in July 2018 he had three years of organised play behind him and was still only 16.
The short stops that followed, four teams in eight months, read as a player outgrowing the domestic circuit faster than it could place him, and each move up the European mix-team ladder confirmed the scouting reports. Warmup, Majestic Lions, Gunrunners and NoChance were stepping stones rather than destinations, each a higher level of European mix-team competition than the last. Čerňanský signed with MOUZ in March 2019. He stayed until December 2023, four years and nine months, and the spell produced six trophies, a Flashpoint 3 MVP medal and the foundation of everything that followed. It remains one of the longest continuous tenures any player in this assignment has served with a single organisation, matched only by Twistzz's first Liquid spell and Boombl4's NAVI years.
The MOUZ tenure divides into two halves. The first, from March 2019 through 2021, was development inside a winning structure: the CS:GO Asia Championships 2019, the ESL Pro League Season 10 Finals, cs_summit 5 and the ICE Challenge 2020 arrived in quick succession, giving a teenager LAN trophies before his eighteenth birthday. The Pro League Season 10 Finals win in particular announced the roster's arrival at the top of the European game, and the cs_summit and ICE Challenge titles, won in the studio-LAN format of the early online era, gave the young rifler his first experience of playoff pressure with cameras on. The Legends-stage finish at the StarLadder Major Berlin 2019 confirmed the trajectory at Valve level. By the time Flashpoint 3 arrived in 2021, he was ready to be the best player at an event, and the MVP medal there remains his only career MVP, a fact that says more about his role than his level. MOUZ teams of that era distributed peak performances across five players rather than funnelling them to one star, so the MVP arrived as validation of a complete game rather than as the start of an awards chase.
The second half, from 2022 through 2023, was the individual prime of the MOUZ years. The Top 20 placements sequence it precisely: number 17 in 2022, number 12 in 2023. The team results tracked alongside: a Legends finish at Stockholm 2021, a semi-final at the IEM Rio Major 2022, third to fourth place, and the ESL Pro League Season 18 title in 2023, the last trophy of the spell. The Rio semi-final deserves emphasis as the deepest Major run of his career to that point, achieved at 20, in front of the sport's most partisan crowd, against the Brazilian teams that owned that building. The Pro League Season 18 title, won in the autumn of 2023 as the CS2 era began, showed the veteran MOUZ core adapting to the new game faster than its rivals, and it remains his most recent full-tier trophy outside the Chengdu win. Between those poles, the Paris Major of 2023 ended in the Challengers stage, the one failure of the spell at Valve level, a reminder that even the steadiest careers contain a missed qualification.
The MOUZ exit in December 2023 closed the longest spell of his career. The organisation had been his home for nearly five years, from prospect to established top-twenty player, and the departure was a career decision rather than a roster casualty: FaZe, the organisation that had contested Major finals in three consecutive years, bought the finished product. He arrived in FaZe as the solution to a specific problem, the rifle firepower around which the post-karrigan era would eventually be built, and the first trophy came quickly at IEM Chengdu 2024, where the new lineup's ceiling showed itself before the harder tests of the Major cycle arrived.
FaZe signed Čerňanský in December 2023, and the first full year produced the IEM Chengdu 2024 trophy, the seventh team title of his career and the first outside the MOUZ structure. The Chengdu win matters beyond its own weight because it answered the structural question of the transfer: whether a player developed in MOUZ's system-heavy environment could function in FaZe's looser, star-driven defaults. The trophy says he could, and the Top 20 placement that followed, number 10 in 2024, his third consecutive year on the list, says the adaptation did not cost him his individual level.
The two Major finals of 2024 define the FaZe chapter's emotional register. At PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen in March 2024, FaZe finished second. At Perfect World Shanghai Major 2024 in December, FaZe finished second again. Two Major finals in one calendar year, two defeats, for a player whose previous deepest run had been a semi-final. The Copenhagen final, played in the Royal Arena against NAVI, and the Shanghai final, played against Spirit's historic roster, sit on either side of the year's other results, and together they describe a team that could reach the last day of the sport's biggest tournaments but could not close them. Čerňanský's individual game held through both runs; the missing piece was elsewhere, in the fine margins of finals decided by a handful of late rounds.
The year also confirmed his standing in the game's hierarchy. A fourth consecutive Top 20 placement would follow in 2025, but the 2024 number 10 finish, achieved in a new team with a new language of calling, was the one that proved the MOUZ numbers travelled. The Top 20 articles themselves trace the arc: number 17 in 2022 as the breakthrough, number 12 in 2023 as the established star, number 10 in 2024 as the FaZe adaptor, number 8 in 2025 as the career best. Each article's statistical package confirmed the same underlying game with slightly better outputs, which is the definition of a player improving rather than fluctuating. Few players in the sport's history have been ranked top twenty across a team change into the highest-pressure environment in the game; he did it while getting better every year.
The 2025 season extended the pattern of near-misses and confirmed honours in parallel. At the BLAST.tv Austin Major in June, FaZe reached the quarter-finals. The spring had already banked individual recognition across three events: EVP mentions at ESL Pro League Season 22, PGL Bucharest 2025 and PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, a sequence that shows the 2025 Top 20 number 8 finish was built on sustained output rather than a single peak. At the StarLadder Budapest Major in December, FaZe finished second, the third Major final defeat of the FaZe spell and the fourth of his career. The Budapest run earned him an EVP mention, his fourth documented EVP including the later XSE award, and the final defeat, like Copenhagen and Shanghai before it, left the career's outstanding gap exactly where it had been: a Major title.
The Top 20 placement for 2025, number 8, was his career best, and the profile page carries it alongside the three earlier entries as a four-year sequence: 17, 12, 10, 8. The monotonic improvement across four years, with a team change in the middle, is one of the cleanest career curves in the sport. It describes a player still getting better at 23, still adding to his game, with no plateau visible in the numbers.
Off the server, the year brought the question that would define the next one. In an interview published on 14 May 2026, Čerňanský addressed the Falcons organisation's interest directly: "With the results that we [showed], I feel like anyone with a Falcons offer would've left." The sentence is doing careful work. It acknowledges the offer without confirming its details, attributes the departure logic to results rather than money, and includes himself in the general statement rather than making a personal claim. The context was FaZe's difficult year, the roster sliding down the rankings while Falcons assembled the sport's most expensive project around m0NESY, NiKo and kyousuke. That he stayed, and that the quote exists at all, marks him as the player FaZe could neither afford to lose nor fully satisfy, the star whose prime the rebuild was built to use.
The 2026 season rebuilt FaZe around him and his Canadian teammate. Finn "karrigan" Andersen's departure, the benching of Helvijs "broky" Saukants on 25 June and the loan of Jason "JBOEN" Boe Nielsen for the remainder of 2026 on 26 June remade two of the five chairs. Ryan "Neityu" Aubry arrived from ENCE, initially as the karrigan replacement on stand-in terms in April, and was signed permanently on 12 August after five tournaments and four semi-final finishes. Niclas "enkay J" Krumhorn coached the new group. Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken, the Major winner turned caller, took the in-game lead, a transition he addressed directly in a late-July interview about giving everything to become the best leader he could be.
Čerňanský's own assessment of the rebuild came in an interview published on 31 July 2026, after FaZe reached the BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals semi-final over The MongolZ: "We are playing better than we did half a year ago, but there is still so much to improve." The quote captures the season's double truth. FaZe had climbed from below the top twenty on the VRS back to tenth, with semi-finals at BLAST Rivals Season 1, BLAST Bounty Season 2 and XSE Pro League Guangzhou, losing in series play only to PARIVISION, Spirit and Vitality before the autumn. But the semi-finals were the ceiling: Bounty ended 1-2 to Spirit in the semi-final on 1 August, XSE ended in the marathon double-overtime semi-final defeat to PARIVISION on 11 July, and the Esports World Cup ended 0-2 to Vitality in the playoffs after a 2-0 win over Legacy.
"We are playing better than we did half a year ago, but there is still so much to improve."
His individual contribution through that stretch was the team's constant. Against DENDELE in the Bounty round of 16, a 2-1 win, he produced a rare AWP clip in the Cache decider alongside jcobbb's 1v3, a moment that illustrates the completeness of his game: a career rifler picking up the scoped weapon in a deciding round and delivering with it. Against BETBOOM in the XSE quarter-final, the 2-0 win that preceded the PARIVISION marathon, he led the way against top-ten opposition with three maps above a 2.00 rating across the event. The 1.26 event rating at XSE, with 1.23 in playoffs, 1.06 kills per round win and plus 2.23 percent round swing, earned his first EVP of 2026, breaking a duck that had lasted the whole year for a player of his standards.
The Suzhou event in September undid months of work in five days. FaZe arrived ranked tenth, with only three teams above them in attendance in FURIA, G2 and Legacy, and left in joint-last place, thirteenth to sixteenth, after a 0-2 loss to Alliance on 8 September and a 1-2 loss to magic on 9 September. The magic series went to three maps with overtime losses: 16-14 on Ancient, 10-13 on Dust2, 16-19 on Cache. Čerňanský posted a 1.02 series rating, with 59 kills to 65 deaths, while Twistzz at 1.27 was the team's best player in defeat.
The consequences were structural rather than merely reputational. FaZe had missed the Cologne Major by the skin of their teeth, and the FISSURE exit dropped their Singapore Major invite probability from roughly 87 percent to roughly 63 percent, leaving only Stake Ranked Episode 4 on the calendar before the November deadline. A season of careful rebuilding, from sub-top-twenty obscurity back to tenth, nearly unravelled in one event. The collapse also sharpened the questions around the roster's younger pieces: JBOEN posted 0.95 across the magic series, Neityu 0.82, and the community debate about whether the supporting cast matched the frozen-Twistzz core intensified, with the Polish and Danish prospects' development timelines suddenly measured against a qualification deadline rather than a project plan.
For Čerňanský personally, the event was an anti-climax rather than a verdict. His three-month rating held at 1.13 to 1.22 across the summer snapshots, and the season's EVP at XSE plus the Budapest Major EVP from December confirmed the individual level. But the FISSURE result demonstrated the limit of what individual constancy can do when the team's floor gives way, and it left the autumn as a qualification battle rather than a trophy hunt.
The attribute scores describe a complete rifle star with a specific shape. Firepower at 73 leads, Entrying at 57 is solid without being defining, Trading at 48 and Opening at 49 are moderate, Utility at 35 is low, Clutching at 32 is the lowest score on the page, Sniping at 1 confirms the rifle identity. The low clutching number, like donk's 55, is a function of role rather than nerve: a player who decides rounds in the first twenty seconds rarely reaches the one-versus-X situations where clutch statistics accumulate.
The comparison with his FaZe teammates clarifies the function. Twistzz brings the calling and the utility at 81, JBOEN the AWPing, Neityu the anchor roles, jcobbb the opening attempts at 79. Čerňanský is the converter: the player who turns the space others create into kills, who leads the team against top-ten opposition as he did against BETBOOM at XSE, who posts the 2.00-plus maps when the event is on the line. The 1.26 XSE rating with three such maps is the profile in miniature.
The statistical record supports the longevity reading. The FACEIT volume, 5,060 matches at 61 percent, is the largest in this assignment, built across both the CS:GO and CS2 eras of the European ladder. The four-year Top 20 climb, 17 to 12 to 10 to 8, shows no plateau. The summer ratings, 1.20 to 1.22 over 42 to 47 maps with 0.74 to 0.76 kills per round, describe a player holding elite output through a rebuild, a coaching change and a teammate turnover that would depress most players' numbers. The game he plays is technically complete rather than spectacular, which is why it survives context changes that break more spectacular players.
The aggregate record: $829,449 in career prize money, seven team trophies across MOUZ and FaZe, one MVP medal from Flashpoint 3, five documented EVPs including the Budapest Major and XSE Guangzhou, four consecutive Top 20 finishes culminating in number 8 in 2025, and eight Major appearances with three finals and one semi-final. He is 24, in his third year with FaZe, holding a 1.13 to 1.22 recent rating.
The comparative framing is straightforward and unforgiving. He is the best Slovak player in the sport's history by every available measure, a four-time Top 20 finisher with a career curve still pointing upward. He is also a player with three Major final defeats and no title, in an era when his organisation reached finals repeatedly without closing them. The Copenhagen, Shanghai and Budapest finals are the outstanding items on the résumé, and the Falcons quote shows he is aware of what the alternative looks like.
What comes next is defined by two races running simultaneously. The first is the Singapore Major invite race, where FISSURE turned a near-certainty into a contest that will run to the November deadline. The second is the longer question of whether the Twistzz-led rebuild, with its loaned AWPer and its developing anchor, can become a team that wins finals rather than reaching semis. His own words from July set the terms: playing better than half a year ago, with so much still to improve. At 24, with the prime years ahead and the curve still rising, the improvement is plausible. The Major title that would complete the career remains the one thing the numbers cannot promise.
