[05] — The dossier · long-form
A documentary biography of the American support rifler who has been present for every season of the M80 project, built from HLTV profile data, HLTV news records and published interviews.
Michael Schmid competes under the name Swisher. He is listed as 28 years old, representing the United States, and at the time of the profile record he is a rifler for M80, the organisation he joined at its entry into Counter-Strike in July 2023 and for which he has played continuously since. His career prize money is recorded at $150,688, his three-month Rating 3.0 at 0.97, and his Major record at three appearances, all ending in Stage 2 at Austin 2025, Budapest 2025 and Cologne 2026. He has no HLTV Top 20 placements, no Major titles and no Major MVP awards. His trophy section is empty.
The attribute block describes a support-entry hybrid. On the 0 to 100 scale he is recorded at Utility 85, Entrying 73, Trading 41, Clutching 42, Opening 33, Firepower 21, Sniping 0. Utility at 85 is the second-highest in the M80 set, behind only the in-game leader. Entrying at 73 is the second-highest, behind only Lake. The combination is unusual: a player who both throws the flashes and swings off them, who sets up teammates on some rounds and is set up by them on others. Firepower at 21 and Opening at 33 show the cost of that versatility — the raw duel output and first-kill involvement of a player whose economy and positioning are subordinated to the needs of the round rather than to his own statistics.
His FACEIT history is the longest queue record in the M80 set by match count in North America. Across 3,261 recorded matches he holds a 62.0 percent win rate, a 1.36 average KDR and a 49.0 percent headshot percentage, with a longest winning streak of 18. The historic placements span FPL CS:GO North America from Seasons 65 through 149 and FPL CS2 North America from Seasons 4 through 74, with brief European appearances in Seasons 1, 48 and 69. Weekly finishes include #5 in Season 141, #6 in Season 69, #9 in Seasons 142 and 147, and a long sequence of top-20 placements across 2021 to 2023. The note on his active season reads "Swisher has no stats for the active FPL season, check back later", consistent with a veteran whose queue activity ended upon securing a salaried starting role.
Schmid belongs to the generation of North American players who turned professional in 2018 to 2019, survived the COVID online era, the post-Partner-Team contraction of the North American scene, and the VALORANT departures of 2021 to 2022, and who were still active when M80 entered the discipline in 2023. His team history lists fourteen periods across eight organisations, the longest chain in this assignment. The biography that follows is therefore both an individual account and an institutional history of North American Counter-Strike between 2018 and 2026.
The team history opens with five periods in fourteen months. Masked from November 2018 to February 2019, Zone from February 2019 to April 2019, Rugratz from May 2019 to June 2019, Monstars from August 2019 to September 2019, and Peekers Advantage from September 2019 to November 2019. Each tenure lasted between one and three months. Each organisation existed in the space between ESEA Main, ESEA Advanced and MDL qualifiers, fielding rosters that entered every open bracket in North America and disbanded when a season ended without promotion.
No trophies are listed against any of the five periods, and the news index contains no dedicated coverage of Schmid from these years. That absence is structural rather than personal. The North American open circuit in 2019 produced no HLTV headlines for its middle tier; coverage began at the MDL playoff level and above. A rifler in Masked or Rugratz could play fifty officials in a season without appearing in a single headline, and the FACEIT queue was the only public record of his form. His later FPL placements — #16 in Season 101, #12 in Season 100, #15 in Season 92 — date from the subsequent period but reflect the volume accumulated here: nightly matchmaking after daily qualifiers, the double schedule that defined the tier.
The Monstars return from January 2020 to April 2020 and the Warriors International period from June 2020 to August 2020, followed by ex-Warriors International in August to September 2020, continued the pattern into the COVID year. The online-only calendar removed travel but did not remove instability; if anything, the ease of reforming rosters online increased it. The profile lists Warriors International, ex-Warriors International and Yeah in overlapping summer months, indicating a roster that lost organisational backing mid-season and continued under modified prefixes — the same administrative pattern documented in Lake's Snakes Den to ex-Snakes Den transition three years later.
Yeah from September 2020 to January 2021 was the first tenure to generate headline records. On 9 September 2020 the desk reported "Swisher joins Yeah", confirming his arrival. On 16 September: "Yeah drop out of IEM New York North America; Swole Patrol, MIBR fates uncertain". On 24 September: "MIBR, Hard Legion replaced in IEM New York following RMR points reset". On 1 October: "Yeah bench tatazin". The four reports in three weeks show a roster in administrative turbulence, entering and withdrawing from the RMR-adjacent calendar as Valve revised its points system. The tenure ended in January 2021.
Bad News Bears from January 2021 to January 2022 was the first full-year tenure and the first to produce verifiable results against tier-one opposition. On 1 June 2021: "Shakezullah replaces alter on Bad News Bears". On 5 July: "How Bad News Bears emerged from the ashes of Chaos to keep NA's dream alive", a feature that placed the roster as the carrier of the North American scene after the Chaos organisation exited the discipline. On 15 August: "ESL Pro League S14 Group A preview", listing the Bears among the group participants. On 13 September: "Shakezullah: 'Any of us could go to VALORANT and find an offer there, but we play CS because we love it'" and, on the same day, "Bad News Bears survive Party Astronauts comeback to win Fragadelphia 15". The Fragadelphia 15 title in September 2021 is the first trophy-equivalent result of his career, albeit at a domestic LAN rather than a Big Event.
The autumn extended the exposure. On 6 October 2021: "Liquid, FURIA lead after IEM Fall NA opening day", placing the Bears in the RMR event group. The tenure ended in January 2022, when the roster cycle turned again. Orgless from January 2022 to April 2022 followed, under the former Complexity caller daps. On 14 January 2022 the desk reported "daps forms new roster under Orgless banner", and on 9 April: "daps' Orgless disband: 'The support system I had coming up is non-existent'". The three-month lifespan of the project, and the disbandment quotation about the absence of developmental infrastructure, captures the structural condition Schmid played under for four years: rosters assembled from available veterans, competing without academy funding, disbanding when a single RMR cycle ended without qualification.
ATK from April 2022 to July 2023, including the ex-ATK prefix period in July 2023, was the longest tenure to that point at fifteen months. The South African-backed organisation competed in ESL Challenger, CCT North America and the BLAST and EPL qualifiers. Three March 2023 reports place the level: "ENCE defeat ATK in NertZ debut to earn first win at EPL" on 16 March, "Liquid demote ATK to last-chance bracket" on 17 March, and "Astralis survive ATK scare to stay alive at EPL" on 18 March. The sequence — competitive against ENCE, Liquid and Astralis in the same EPL group, unable to convert any of the three series — prefigures the M80 pattern of the next three years with exactness.
On 16 July 2023 the desk reported "M80 enter Counter-Strike with roster featuring malbsMd, Swisher; dephh returns as coach". The headline names Schmid as one of two players carried into the new organisation, alongside the Guatemalan rifler malbsMd, with the former Complexity coach dephh returning to lead the project. On 12 September the desk published the explainer "Who are M80 and why did the organization choose now to invest in NA Counter-Strike?", which framed the entry as a bet that a salaried, bootcamping North American roster could re-establish the region in the international top twenty.
"Who are M80 and why did the organization choose now to invest in NA Counter-Strike?"
The first season under the new brand tested that bet immediately. On 13 September 2023: "EPL Group C: Three facts and quotes from each team". On 16 September: "9z send M80 home in Malta". The autumn closed without a playoff. The winter brought the first structural additions. On 14 November 2023: "Official: slaxz- joins M80". On 10 December: "M80, BOSS secure ESL Pro League Season 19 spots". On 13 January 2024: "M80 dominate Liquid, COL survive NRG scare in Americas RMR NA closed qualifier day 1". On 21 January: "M80 beat Liquid to qualify for IEM Chengdu". The victories over Liquid — the dominant North American organisation of the previous five years — in January 2024 mark the moment M80 overtook its domestic rival in head-to-head results.
On 26 March 2024 the desk reported "M80 confirm s1n signing", installing the German caller, and the five that would define the next eighteen months was complete: s1n calling, slaxz- on the AWP, Swisher and malbsMd on rifles, reck in the fifth chair, dephh coaching. The spring results that followed — the G2 upset, the BetBoom and G2 playoff deciders at EPL Season 19 — have been documented in the companion biographies and need no repetition here, except to note Schmid's function within them. With Utility 85 and Entrying 73, he was the player who threw the execute flashes for malbsMd and Lake's entries and who took the entry himself when the call required a second wave.
His interview on 30 May 2024, headlined "Swisher: '[We're] just going to erase everything that happened here'", addressed a disappointing spring event directly. The quotation advocates forgetting rather than reviewing — an unusual position for a veteran, and one that reads as a locker-room instruction to a young roster rather than as an analytical claim. On 19 July 2024, after the malbsMd departure and the Lake signing, he gave the longer interview headlined "Swisher: 'malbsMd doesn't deserve those roles [in G2], he should be in ones he shines in'". The remark defends his former teammate's new role allocation while implicitly describing his own: the support-entry player who enables stars by absorbing the roles they cannot play.
The September 2024 EPL Season 20 run to the quarter-finals, via the Complexity opener, the fnatic marathon and the Imperial decider, has been covered as the first Big Event playoff in M80 history. Schmid's contribution to that run does not appear in a dedicated headline, which is consistent with his attribute shape: support players do not generate "shines" headlines. Their work appears in the round-by-round grenade timings and entry trades that allow a Lake or a slaxz- to generate one.
The RMR miss that followed is documented in the same November pair as in the companion accounts: "M80 send BESTIA packing" and "FURIA outclass M80" on 15 November 2024. The winter interview that followed, on 24 November 2024, is headlined "Swisher: 'When we were in NA, the scrims were non-existent'". The quotation addresses the structural disadvantage directly: without European bootcamps and regular tier-one practice partners, a North American roster cannot maintain the default discipline required to convert RMR deciders. The remark is the clearest statement in his index of the material conditions behind the Stage 2 ceiling.
The January 2025 disruption — "M80 turn to k1to as reck is sidelined with broken leg" — forced a stand-in period in which his Utility 85 became the stabilising element. A stand-in rifler cannot learn a team's grenade book in a week; the remaining veterans must simplify defaults and throw more of the set smokes themselves. The spring results — the FURIA upset at BLAST Open on 22 March 2025, the G2 elimination at PGL Astana on 12 May — show a team that remained competitive through the disruption without breaking its ceiling.
The Major sequence with M80 mirrors that of his teammates. Austin 2025 Stage 2, Budapest 2025 Stage 2 with the NRG and Astralis wins followed by the Passion UA and Imperial defeats, and Cologne 2026 Stage 2 with the NRG derby win followed by the Legacy elimination. The achievements table lists all three with links to his event statistics pages. The December 2025 roster change — "M80 part ways with HexT" and "Official: M80 sign JBa" — installed the fourth different fifth player of his M80 tenure alongside him, with reck, k1to as stand-in, HexT and JBa succeeding one another in the same chair.
His June 2026 interview on JBa, headlined "Swisher: 'I feel like JBa was told what to do, and not why on Wildcard; we're trying to get him to be more independent'", is the longest tactical statement in his index. The quotation describes a coaching philosophy: rather than instructing the new rifler in fixed positions, the team is teaching him the reasoning behind defaults so that he can improvise within them. The remark reveals as much about the speaker as about its subject. A support player with fourteen team periods and eight years of qualifier experience is describing the pedagogical problem he himself faced in every previous roster: being told where to stand without being told why the call required it.
The August 2026 BLAST Open sequence — the NAVI upset on 26 August, the fnatic quarter-final berth on 1 September reported as "M80 secure BLAST London quarter-final berth over fnatic", the MOUZ semi-final elimination on 5 September, and the Aurora elimination on 30 August reported as "Aurora eliminate M80 from BLAST Open in dominant fashion" — shows the JBa-integrated five at its peak and its limit within the same week. The March 2026 feature "malbsMd-NertZ swap Fans Come Here ft. Swisher" places him, by then, as a veteran commentator on the scene's roster mechanics rather than merely as a participant in them.
The attributes require the same extended reading given to his teammates, because his pair is the most contradictory in the set. Utility 85 and Entrying 73 do not normally coexist. Utility specialists throw grenades from safe positions and trade late; entry specialists conserve grenades for post-plant and swing first. A player asked to do both is a player whose team has no spare manpower — the caller throws the strat smokes, the AWPer holds the angles, and the support-entry player covers everything between.
Trading 41 shows the consequence. A player who entries on some rounds and supports on others will rarely be in the optimal second-man position, because he is either first through the doorway or behind the AWPer managing grenades. Clutching 42 and Opening 33 confirm the shape: few first kills, few last-alive conversions, because the rounds are decided while he is either setting up the execute or being traded in its first wave. Firepower 21 is the lowest in the M80 set, lower even than the caller's 24, and it must be read as a role artefact rather than as a mechanical judgement. No player survives eight years and fourteen teams on mechanical deficiency; players survive by accepting the positions that suppress their own output.
The recent match list from September 2026 shows the breadth that versatility enables. Wins over Voca, BESTIA and DENDELE in iBUYPOWER Masters, wins over Metizport and GamerLegion in Logitech G Play, losses to Liquid, DENDELE, 3DMAX, B8 and Luminosity — a spread of opponents across three tiers in a single month. A specialist could not play all of those series in the same role; a support-entry hybrid can, because his assignment changes with the opponent's strength. Against Voca and BESTIA he entries; against Liquid and MOUZ he supports.
The aggregate record can be stated completely. At 28, Michael Schmid has earned $150,688 in recorded prize money, attended three Majors to Stage 2, reached one Big Event quarter-final at EPL Season 20, and maintained a three-month rating of 0.97 with Utility 85 and Entrying 73. He has played for M80 continuously since July 2023, the only rifler in this set with that distinction, across fourteen team periods and eight calendar years. His sticker record shows 19 entries across Austin 2025, Budapest 2025 and Cologne 2026. His FACEIT history shows 3,261 matches at 62 percent wins. His gallery record shows nine pages.
The comparative framing is institutional and longitudinal. Among North American riflers who turned professional before 2020, Schmid is one of a small number to have remained a starting rifler on an internationally competing roster into 2026 without an extended break, a coaching conversion or a move to VALORANT. The Bad News Bears Fragadelphia title in 2021, the ATK Pro League groups in 2023, the M80 EPL quarter-final in 2024 and the three Major Stage 2 appearances form a continuous upward line, even if each step ended below the playoff cut.
What the record does not yet contain is a Stage 3 appearance or a Big Event semi-final, and at 28 the horizon for those items is narrower than for his younger teammates. Whether they arrive will depend on the same variables that have defined his entire M80 tenure: whether the JBa-integrated five can be retained long enough for the independent-default system described in his June 2026 interview to mature, and whether the North American practice conditions described in his November 2024 interview can be overcome through European bootcamps. With more than three years in the same organisation, the longest stability of his career, the outstanding item remains the specific Swiss decider that has ended his last three Majors.
