PR — Oldřich Nový

A documentary biography of the Czech rifler who climbed from domestic mix teams to the MOUZ starting five by way of the organization's academy and an eighteen-month education in GamerLegion, built from HLTV profile data, HLTV news records and published interviews.

1. Czech Beginnings: Glore, Dark Tigers and the Domestic Grind

Oldřich Nový's professional record begins where most Czech careers begin: in the domestic circuit, on short-lived lineups, with little attention from outside the country's borders. His earliest listed teams are Glore, from March to April 2022, and Dark Tigers, from April to July of the same year, followed by a spell with Cryptova. None of these stints produced trophies that register on his HLTV profile, and none lasted longer than a few months. What they provided was something less visible and more durable: competitive repetitions against adult opposition while he was still of school age, and a record of movement that marked him as a player searching for a structure capable of holding him.

The Czech scene has historically exported talent through international academies rather than through domestic organizations, and Nový's path followed that pattern. By mid-2023, at sixteen years of age, he had done enough in those early teams to come onto the radar of MOUZ NXT, the most decorated academy project in Counter-Strike. In July 2023 he joined the NXT roster, beginning a spell that would run for eighteen months, until January 2025. It was the first stable environment of his career, and the first time his development was managed rather than improvised.

The move also placed him inside one of the most scrutinized development systems in the game. MOUZ NXT had, by that point, already graduated a generation of players into tier one, and every new arrival was measured against that standard. Nový's time in the academy coincided with an awkward episode that illustrated the scrutiny: in May 2024, MOUZ NXT coach Tobias "TOBIZ" Theo defended Nový publicly against radar accusations, an incident recorded in HLTV's news index. The defense itself was the meaningful fact. Academy players who attract suspicion are usually players who attract attention, and the organization's willingness to stand behind a seventeen-year-old suggested that the internal evaluation was strongly positive.

His FACEIT record from these years describes the volume behind the evaluation. Across 4,791 recorded matches he holds a 56.0 percent win rate with a 1.28 average KDR and a 50.0 percent headshot rate, and his FPL placements run across both the CS:GO and CS2 eras of the European ladder. Those are the numbers of a player who treated matchmaking as a second training block rather than as recreation, and they help explain why, when MOUZ's senior team later considered promoting him directly, the internal conversation was serious enough to be described publicly by the organization's management.

2. The NXT Classroom: Eighteen Months in Europe's Leading Academy

The NXT spell, from July 2023 to January 2025, is the foundation on which everything else in Nový's career rests. MOUZ NXT 3.0, as the iteration was branded in HLTV's October 2024 feature on the academy's new era, operated as a finishing school: structured practice, LAN exposure at the tier-two level, and a tactical education designed to make graduates plug-compatible with the senior team's systems. Nový spent a year and a half inside it, longer than many graduates, and the length of the stay matters to the story. When MOUZ later weighed promoting him, chief of business development Jan Dominicus told HLTV that the organization had "initially came close to promoting him from our NXT team, but ultimately decided to bring in additional experience for the roster." The direct promotion was deferred, not dismissed.

"initially came close to promoting him from our NXT team, but ultimately decided to bring in additional experience for the roster."

What the academy gave him is visible in his attribute profile. HLTV's seven scores for Nový read: Entrying 61, Utility 53, Opening 41, Trading 33, Clutching 32, Firepower 28, Sniping 1. The shape is that of a drilled system player rather than a freelance duelist. Entrying at 61 is his highest combat score by a distance, and Utility at 53 is his second-highest overall, a combination that describes a player taught to take space on instruction and to arrive with his grenades in order. Firepower at 28, the lowest of his rifle scores, is not a verdict on his aim so much as a reflection of role: academy graduates who play structured entry and support positions rarely post the raw output numbers of pack openers, and Nový's profile is drawn from a career spent largely in exactly those positions.

The academy years also built the relationships that would define his later career. He learned the organization's methods, its calling structures and its expectations, and he was known quantities to the senior team's staff and players. When Dominicus later said "he has also known our team for a long time, and our team knows him just as well," he was describing the dividend of those eighteen months. Few transfers in tier-one Counter-Strike involve a player rejoining an organization that already holds a year and a half of data on him.

By the end of 2024 the academy had nothing left to teach him that matches could not teach better. In January 2025, MOUZ transferred him to GamerLegion, and the second phase of his career began.

3. GamerLegion Schooling: Katowice Masterclass and a Year of LANs

GamerLegion signed Nový on 8 January 2026 (announced 8 January 2025 in HLTV's record; the signing notice "GamerLegion sign PR" sits in the news index at the start of the 2025 season), and the move placed him under one of the most respected development coaches in the scene, Ashley "ash" Battye, alongside a rotating cast of veterans and prospects. The eighteen months that followed, from January 2025 to July 2026, gave him what the academy could not: a full calendar of tier-one LANs, two Major appearances, and playoff matches against the best teams in the world.

The signature performance came early. On 4 February 2025, GamerLegion eliminated Astralis from IEM Katowice in a result HLTV headlined as a "PR masterclass." The wording of that headline is worth preserving, because it is the first time his name carried a match report at a Big Event, and it arrived against one of the most historically significant organizations in the game. Katowice also brought him into contact with the event's upper bracket: GamerLegion qualified for Stage 2 after taking revenge on paiN, fell to The MongolZ on the way to the playoffs, and then pushed Spirit, the eventual finalists' conquerors, in a playoff-qualification match that Spirit survived after dropping map one. Nový's first Katowice ended without a trophy but with his reputation materially altered.

The rest of 2025 ran on the GamerLegion pattern of that era: competitive at nearly everything, triumphant at almost nothing. He attended the full circuit with the team, and his LAN rating for the year settled at 1.13, a solid figure for a nineteen-year-old in his first full tier-one season. It was enough to make him a subject of genuine transfer speculation. At the end of the year he was, in HLTV's phrasing, "heavily linked with a transfer away" from GamerLegion, an episode he later addressed himself in a January 2026 interview: "I was getting hyped up that something good for me could happen, but after a few days I realized it was just Twitter rumors." The candor of that remark, given days after the rumours collapsed, described a player learning to manage the transfer market's noise in public. He stayed, and GamerLegion's 2026 began with him still in the lineup: an EVP-level showing at PGL Masters Bucharest in the autumn of 2025, where he earned his first career EVP mention and where GamerLegion's playoff run included his standout displays against HEROIC and M80s, confirmed that the trajectory was still pointing upward.

The two Majors of the GamerLegion spell frame it. At StarLadder Budapest in late 2025 he attended his first Major, exiting in Stage 1, and HLTV listed him among the event's rookies in its "Meet the StarLadder Budapest Major rookies" feature. At IEM Cologne in 2026 he reached Stage 2 with GamerLegion. Neither run was deep, but both were educational: elimination matches at Majors are the highest-leverage games most young players ever contest, and Nový played them in consecutive seasons before his twentieth birthday.

By the summer of 2026, though, the consistency that had defined his 2025 had thinned. His LAN rating for the year had fallen to 1.05, down from 1.13, and GamerLegion's season had stalled: a last-place-adjacent exit from the MRQ in April, a 26-3 humiliation of Falcons notwithstanding, and quarter-final ceilings at the events that mattered. When MOUZ came calling in July, both parties had reasons to say yes.

4. The Return: MOUZ's Summer Overhaul and the PR Signing

MOUZ's announcement, published 14 July 2026 under the headline "MOUZ announce PR signing," is one of the most detailed roster statements of the season, and its context is essential. In April 2026 the organization had double-benched Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin and Jimi "Jimpphat" Salo, ending a roster that had made the semi-finals at thirteen of fifteen events across 2025 but had then missed the top four at three in a row, punctuated by a last-place finish at BLAST Open Rotterdam. Justinas "jL" Lekavicius arrived on loan as a stand-in for PGL Astana and the CS Asia Championships, Brollan returned temporarily for the Cologne Major under the Major's roster-lock rules, and the team finished 12th-14th. In the off-season Brollan departed for HEROIC and Jimpphat for Aurora. The rebuild was total: xertioN shifting to the in-game leadership, Adrian "xelex" Vincze promoted from NXT in April, and now Nový returning from GamerLegion to complete the five.

Dominicus's statement to HLTV framed the signing as a homecoming with a point. "I am very excited about PR's return," he said. "Not only does he fit the position very well, but he has also known our team for a long time, and our team knows him just as well." He acknowledged the deferred promotion directly: "We initially came close to promoting him from our NXT team, but ultimately decided to bring in additional experience for the roster. Now, 18 months later, PR has proven he can compete at the highest level, and we are looking to take the next step together." And he closed with institutional pride: "It also makes us proud that we are able to integrate another player from our NXT project... A great testament to our continued commitment to player development."

"Not only does he fit the position very well, but he has also known our team for a long time, and our team knows him just as well."

"It also makes us proud that we are able to integrate another player from our NXT project... A great testament to our continued commitment to player development."

The tactical fit was debated immediately. HLTV's "Stat Check: MOUZ look to PR for some extra dynamism," published days before the announcement, examined where he would slot, and community analysts noted that his GamerLegion roles, largely active anchor and rifle spots, would need reshaping into MOUZ's more passive structures on maps like Mirage and Ancient. Nový himself addressed the adjustment in his first interview as a MOUZ player on 30 July: "I really like the way xertioN calls, because I have more responsibilities than before." The sentence is the clearest available summary of why the move appealed to him. After a year in which his GamerLegion output had dipped, he was being offered not just a better team but a bigger brief.

He debuted a week after the announcement, in the online stage of BLAST Bounty Season 2. "MOUZ win on PR debut as BLAST Bounty S2 kicks off," ran the 22 July headline. The debut was a win, the campaign continued through a locked-in Finals berth over FOKUS, and by the end of the month MOUZ were in Malta for the LAN finals.

5. First Trophy: BLAST Bounty Season 2 Finals

The BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 Finals, staged in early August 2026, gave Nový his first tier-one trophy within a fortnight of his MOUZ debut. MOUZ survived a scare against 3DMAX in the semi-finals, edged past Astralis by the narrowest of margins in the other semi-final, and then met Spirit, the world's defining team, in the grand final. They won. "MOUZ subdue Spirit to win BLAST Bounty S2," reported HLTV on 2 August, and the MVP medal went to Lotan "Spinx" Giladi, the first of his career. Spinx's own reflection, "I always wanted to have just one MVP in my career," captured what the win meant inside a roster that had been rebuilt to contend immediately.

Nový's contribution was structural rather than decorative. He had been signed to supply dynamism and responsibility inside xertioN's calling, and across the Finals he supplied exactly that: entry work, utility discipline, and the spacing that allowed Spinx and xertioN to produce their headline performances. The EVP and All-Stars selection for the event, published 7 August, confirmed the hierarchy of the win without diminishing his share of it. A debut trophy within two weeks of signing is the fastest possible validation of a transfer, and it transformed the narrative of his 2026 from a story of declining ratings into a story of a player finding his level in a better team.

The aftermath brought the first interview evidence of his integration. xertioN spoke on 31 July about the mental side of the new leadership, "needing to actually be there for the guys even when we're not playing well," and torzsi would later describe the new structure in terms of what xertioN and sycrone demanded of him. Nový's line about responsibilities sat inside that same adjustment: a new caller, a new system, and a young player being asked to carry more rather than less.

6. Porto Final and Autumn: Runner-Up, EVPs and the StarSeries Test

If Bounty was the honeymoon, BLAST Open Porto 2026 in late August and early September was the examination. MOUZ opened with wins over 9z and Inner Circle, beat Falcons 2-1 in a quarter-final that secured a semi-final berth, and then produced the result of their season: a 2-0 victory over Vitality in the semi-finals that carried them into the grand final. Spirit awaited, and this time the outcome reversed. "Spirit take down MOUZ for BLAST Open Porto title," ran the 6 September report, as Spirit won 3-1 and donk collected another MVP. Nový's record shows the runner-up finish, his second LAN final in succession, and the EVPs and All-Stars selection for Porto confirmed the event's individual hierarchy.

The EWC campaign between the two finals had been shorter: a 2-1 win over GamerLegion in which xelex went from zero to hero in the comeback, followed by elimination at the hands of FUT, who denied the MOUZ comeback to reach the playoffs. Fifth-to-eighth in Paris was a disappointment against the standard the roster had set at Bounty, but the Porto run immediately afterward restored the trajectory.

September closed with the StarLadder StarSeries Fall event, a chastening week. MOUZ lost 1-2 to NRG, beat Natus Vincere 2-1, and then fell 1-2 to FURIA to exit in fifth-to-sixth place. The results underlined the volatility of the new lineup: capable of beating Vitality 2-0 one week and losing to NRG the next. For Nový, whose three-month rating at the time of the profile record sat at 0.98, the autumn was a test of a different kind. His career has never been built on headline ratings, and the MOUZ system asks him to do work that the scoreboard undervalues. The question the winter would answer was whether the output would stabilize as the lineup's structure settled.

7. Mechanical Profile: Entrying, Utility and the System Rifler

Nový's attribute scores deserve a full reading, because they explain both his value and his statistical ceiling. Entrying 61 is his standout number, nineteen points clear of his next-best combat score, and it defines his function: he is the player sent to take first contact on executes, to open rounds by walking into occupied space. Opening 41 is modest beside it, which refines the picture further. He entries on instruction, within set pieces, rather than as a freelance opener hunting duels across the map. The distinction matters. A player with Opening 97 takes duels everywhere; a player with Entrying 61 and Opening 41 takes them where the caller sends him.

Utility at 53, his second-highest score, completes the system-rifler portrait. He is a grenade-disciplined player, capable of throwing his team's executes and of playing the support timings that entry packages require. Trading at 33 and Firepower at 28 are the honest limitations: he is not a Naturals trader in the pack, and his raw duel output sits well below the game's stars. Clutching at 32 reflects a player whose rounds are usually decided before they reach one-versus-X states, and Sniping at 1 confirms he is a pure rifler.

The three-month rating of 0.98 and the 2026 LAN average of 1.05 sit below the threshold that defines stardom, and they explain why his 2025 transfer saga ended in rumors rather than a move. But ratings measure what happened, not what was asked. Inside xertioN's MOUZ, where he carries more responsibility than at any previous point, the relevant metrics are entry success, utility timing, and the space his first contact creates for Spinx, xertioN and torzsi. His EVP mention at PGL Masters Bucharest 2025, earned while still at GamerLegion, remains the clearest evidence that when the team context is right, the individual recognition follows.

8. Record, Standing and Horizon

The aggregate record at the time of writing is that of a nineteen-year-old at the start of his prime-earnings phase. Prize money of $165,344. One tier-one trophy, the BLAST Bounty 2026 Season 2 Finals, won within a fortnight of his MOUZ debut. Three runner-up LAN finishes: IEM Atlanta 2026 and BLAST Rivals Season 1 3-4th with GamerLegion, BLAST Open Porto 2026 with MOUZ. One EVP mention, PGL Masters Bucharest 2025. Two Major appearances, Budapest 2025 Stage 1 and Cologne 2026 Stage 2, both with GamerLegion. No Top 20 finishes yet, though consecutive appearances in HLTV's Prospect rankings and a Bold Prediction candidacy for 2025 place him firmly in the pool from which future Top 20 players are drawn.

The comparative framing is developmental rather than historical. He is a Czech player who reached tier one through the game's best academy, proved he could survive a full tier-one calendar at GamerLegion, and was then bought back by the organization that developed him to play a larger role than the one it once declined to give him. Few careers illustrate the modern academy-to-tier-one pipeline as cleanly.

What comes next depends on the stability of the MOUZ project. The roster around him, xertioN calling, torzsi on the AWP, Spinx and xelex alongside, sycrone coaching, is young enough to grow together and accomplished enough to contend now. If the Bounty title and Porto final are the floor rather than the peak, Nový's late teens will be remembered as the period in which a system rifler became a championship component. The system, at least, finally fits him. As he put it in his first week back: he likes the way xertioN calls, because he has more responsibilities than before. Responsibility, for a player built the way he is built, is the point.
