The xertioN file

xertioN — Dorian Berman

Chapter 1 — Foundations

Dorian "xertioN" Berman was born in Israel, and his route into professional Counter-Strike diverged from that of almost every other top Israeli player of his generation. Where flameZ, Spinx and NertZ all cut their teeth inside the domestic team scene, Berman's development ran almost entirely through international lineups, FACEIT ladders and FPL-C, with no meaningful tenure alongside the country's established names. As he told HLTV, "It was different from all the other players we have right now in tier-one, all of them started somewhere in the Israeli scene in a team. I haven't had any experience playing with the 'top' players in Israel, when I was just coming up the only times we played together were some PUGs and five-mans."

His first exposure came in 2014, through his older brother. "My older brother was really into this game and when he showed me it, I really loved it," xertioN recounted. "We started playing a lot together and watching all the events back then, we used to put it on our TV and watch it together on the couch." There was no professional ambition attached at the outset. He recognised what he later described as a "special talent" for the game, but playing Counter-Strike for a living was a consequence, not a plan.

The early competitive identity was that of a FACEIT grinder. "When I started playing for teams, especially at the very beginning, I was known just for being a FACEIT player with 3k elo and some decent aim," he admitted. "I don't think there was much thinking behind my gameplay back then." The mechanics were there; the architecture of team play was not. It began with his first international squad, where a teammate named "dox" served as an unlikely tutor. "I learned a lot about team CS, how to play out defaults and more advanced protocols of CS," xertioN said. "I have to give a lot of credit to my teammate back then, 'dox'... That time is when I started forming the style I play now, of a very aggressive and 'calculated' style of CS."

"I have to give a lot of credit to my teammate back then, 'dox'... That time is when I started forming the style I play now, of a very aggressive and 'calculated' style of CS."

The professional record of those first steps is thin and online-only, as was true of an entire generation whose formative LANs were erased by the pandemic. His first officials came with KPI in La Copa 2020, an online cup won by Heretics, where he exited in third-to-fourth place with a 0.88 series rating. In early 2021 he turned out for OL in two ESEA Cash Cups, winning one outright with a 1.17 average rating. In between and around those fragments, the real training ground was the ladder: FPL-C and FACEIT Premium, thousands of matches, and FPL-C seasons that took him as high as third and fourth place in Europe — visibility that made his name known to academy scouts across the continent.

The scout was Dennis "sycrone" Nielsen, the Dane assembling MOUZ's new "NXT" academy roster for the inaugural WePlay Academy League in 2021. The offer landed at an opportune moment: xertioN had recently been grinding FPL-C alongside two players who would become central figures in his career, JDC and siuhy. "It was a really exciting offer as just prior to that, I started making a bigger name for myself in FPL-C where I played a few times with JDC and siuhy," he said. "As we had already become friends from our games in FPL-C, when I heard they were on the roster I was really looking forward to playing with them." Torzsás completed a core that would later form the spine of MOUZ's main roster. Berman was still a teenager, still without a domestic team career — and about to enter the most productive developmental incubator in European Counter-Strike.

"As we had already become friends from our games in FPL-C, when I heard they were on the roster I was really looking forward to playing with them."

Chapter 2 — The transition to tier-1

MOUZ NXT became the benchmark academy team of the era almost immediately, winning the first four seasons of the WePlay Academy League. xertioN's own trajectory was not linear at first: in Season 1 he averaged a 1.16 rating as third fiddle behind JDC and torzsi, but Season 2 was the emergence, with a 1.41-rated group stage and a 1.32 at the finals. When torzsi and JDC were promoted, xertioN and siuhy remained behind and kept winning — two further titles, with xertioN posting 1.25 and 1.23 ratings.

It was during those months that his relationship with siuhy, which would shape the next four years of his career, was defined. About a month into the project, the teenager asked his in-game leader to unchain him. "Around a month into the project I had a talk with siuhy where I told him I wanted to test my potential fully, to be let 'loose' in some way... I'm super glad he trusted me in that time and gave me that freedom as a player and from that moment on I built a lot of confidence," he said. The aggressive, space-taking style that defines his game to this day was consolidated in that environment. "It was one of the best periods of my life," he said of the NXT years.

The promotion to MOUZ's main roster came in August 2022, seven months after torzsi's, with Aurimas "Bymas" Pipiras making way. Sycrone later explained that "over the player break there was a lot of interest for xertioN from a lot of top teams," and that the player's contract was approaching its end. The sporting rationale was positional. "xertioN is not at all a one-to-one for Bymas... xertioN is way more aggressive, very much a playmaker, which will allow us to swap around some roles within the team," sycrone said, adding that "frozen wanted to maybe become more of a lurk-support player."

The new-look MOUZ reached the quarter-finals of ESL Pro League Season 16 in their first event together, then produced the best result in the organisation's Major history at the IEM Rio Major 2022. In his first Major, xertioN demolished the Challengers Stage with a team-high 1.41 rating and 98.1 ADR as MOUZ went 3-0, before a 0.94 Legends Stage saw frozen carry the team through a 3-2 group record and a quarter-final win over Cloud9. Outsiders ended the run in the semi-finals. "It was a really good feeling to help the team go to the semi-finals of the Major for the first time in MOUZ history and also the first Major ever for me," xertioN said.

What followed was the warning chapter. The 2023 season opened with last-place exits at IEM Katowice and IEM Rio, and then the BLAST.tv Paris Major ended 0-3 in the Challengers Stage. "It felt horrible to go out at last place of the Major," xertioN said. Siuhy, fresh from a Cinderella run to the Paris final with GamerLegion, returned to lead the team, and Jimpphat replaced JDC. The rebound was immediate. At ESL Pro League Season 18, the final Big Event of the CS:GO era, MOUZ beat FURIA, FaZe, G2, ENCE and Natus Vincere in the playoffs to lift the trophy, with torzsi taking MVP and xertioN contributing a 1.16 rating and an EVP. "A lot of it came down to the fact that with Kamil and Jimi everything just clicked instantly," he said. Weeks later frozen departed for FaZe.

Chapter 3 — The breakout year: 2024

Ludvig "Brollan" Brolin arrived from a difficult spell at Ninjas in Pyjamas, and MOUZ carried an unresolved question into 2024: whether a team that had won only in studio environments could contend where crowds sat metres from the server. The first answer came at IEM Katowice. MOUZ moved through Cloud9, GamerLegion and ENCE unbeaten in the group stage, with xertioN leading the GamerLegion win at a 1.68 rating and 105.3 ADR, before FaZe — and former teammate frozen — eliminated them in the Spodek semi-finals. "Group stage to remember and playoffs to forget" became an early-season refrain.

The PGL Major Copenhagen RMR was navigated 3-0, including a win over Spirit, and MOUZ repeated the feat in the Major's Swiss stage. Two narrow 13-11 wins against ECSTATIC and Eternal Fire were followed by what was then a signature performance: a 2.01-rated series against Complexity that put MOUZ into the playoffs with a favourable draw. The quarter-final against G2 ended in the worst individual series of xertioN's career — a 0.46 rating, a 12-31 kill-death record and a minus-ten first-kill differential — amid the chaos of a stage-rush incident near half-time of the second map. "This game came down to the fact that I had one of the worst games in my career, and when you have a player in my role perform like that, it's basically impossible to win any game, so I wouldn't even try to blame it on anything else," he said. "It was definitely my lowest point as an individual during this year."

Recovery came quickly, in China. At IEM Chengdu, a week after the Major, xertioN posted a 1.23 rating and 88.8 ADR, led MOUZ past G2 in an arena revenge match and reached the final — where FaZe again took the trophy. "That loss in the final really hurt... But the next two tournaments we felt completely unbeatable," he said. The next two tournaments were ESL Pro League Season 19 and BetBoom Dacha Belgrade, and they delivered the defining stretch of his breakout year. At EPL, he did not drop below a 1.05 rating in fifteen maps, averaging 1.32 for the event with 89.5 ADR, a 1.58 impact rating and a 76.5 percent KAST, and posted series ratings of 1.40 against G2 and 1.39 in the grand final victory over Vitality. At Belgrade he averaged 1.30 across group stage and playoffs, with 93.2 ADR, to help MOUZ past Spirit for a second consecutive title. Both events brought EVP medals; both MVPs went to ZywOo and donk respectively.

The autumn tested the studio-merchant label. At IEM Cologne, the organisation's home Super-Elite event, MOUZ shed part of the stigma: after losing the group-stage upper-bracket final to Vitality, xertioN improved his ratings in the LANXESS arena, posting a team-high 1.24 and 92.6 ADR in a narrow semi-final defeat to Natus Vincere — a match he chose as his personal highlight of the year for its "close rounds, clutches, and individual brilliance." The counterweight was a group-stage exit at EPL Season 20 and a grand final loss to NAVI at IEM Rio that included the worst map of his career to that point, a 0.21 on Dust2. BLAST Premier World Final produced his only event of the year below 1.06, a 0.95.

He entered the final chapter of the year at the Perfect World Shanghai Major Europe RMR with ratings of 1.47 against Nemiga and 2.00 against Sangal, then fought through the Elimination Stage from the 1-2 pool, leading two 13-11 wins over 3DMAX and posting a 1.43 against MIBR in the decider. MOUZ reached the semi-finals — a second straight Major semi-final for the organisation — before Spirit ended the season. "Winning two trophies, going to two finals, and staying in the top five for 90% of the season is a good result," xertioN assessed, while naming stage performances as unfinished business: "My floor was way too low... that is unacceptable."

HLTV's panel rewarded the year with a Top 20 debut at number fourteen. The supporting evidence was a 1.14 overall rating (ninth among all players), 82.7 ADR (fifth), 1.00 kills per round in round wins (eighth) and the rare consistency of averaging 1.06 or better at all but one tournament. Three EVPs anchored the placing. The ceiling was equally clear: as the lowest-rated Top 20 player in arena matches (0.98) and a 0.99 against top-five opposition, he could rise no further. His stated ambition for 2025 was precise: "to achieve more than I and the team did this year, to become a better stage player that I can be more proud of."

Chapter 4 — The Major campaigns

Seven Valve Majors sit on xertioN's record as of the autumn of 2026, a span running from the CS:GO era into CS2, and the pattern across them is one of early violence followed, too often, by late constriction. The IEM Rio Major 2022, his first, remains the outlier of promise: a 1.41-rated 3-0 sweep of the Challengers Stage with 98.1 ADR, a 0.94 Legends Stage, a quarter-final win over Cloud9 and a semi-final loss to Outsiders that still stands as the deepest MOUZ had ever gone at a Major at that moment. The BLAST.tv Paris Major 2023, six months later, was the inverse — an 0-3 Challengers exit that triggered the roster rebuild bringing siuhy and Jimpphat back into the lineup.

The PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen 2024 carried the most dramatic narrative of the seven. RMR and Swiss sweeps, the 2.01-rated dismantling of Complexity, a quarter-final draw that had MOUZ among the genuine contenders — and then the stage-rush disruption on Vertigo, and the 0.46 series that buried the run against G2. The Perfect World Shanghai Major later that year saw MOUZ navigate the Elimination Stage from the 1-2 pool through two 13-11 wins and a 1.43 decider against MIBR, only for Spirit to win the semi-final comfortably. At the BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025, the first CS2 Major of his career, xertioN found something closer to his desired big-stage level: a 0-2 start against Virtus.pro and FaZe was overturned, ratings ramped from 0.96 against Liquid to 1.20 against Aurora and 1.10 against Legacy, and in the arena he delivered 1.08 in the quarter-final win over Spirit and a 1.23 even in the semi-final loss to the historic Vitality side. "I was extremely confident in our CT sides during that time, and also individually I felt that on a lot of maps I was defining the meta and playing it super well," he said. The StarLadder Budapest Major, played in torzsi's home country, brought best-of-one ratings of 1.51 and 1.94, a decisive win over Falcons in which xertioN posted 1.18, and a quarter-final exit to FaZe in which a strong 1.10 on Nuke went unrewarded before a 0.63 on Inferno closed the year. The IEM Cologne Major 2026, his seventh, ended in the third stage with MOUZ eliminated, xertioN afterwards conceding "We never showed up in this tournament."

Across the seven Majors there is no title, no MVP medal, and a best finish of third-to-fourth achieved three times — Rio 2022, Shanghai 2024, Austin 2025. There is, however, a through-line of individual volume under maximum pressure: he was the seventeenth-best player in the world at Majors across 2025 with a 1.12 rating, and his peaks in the early stages of multiple editions suggest a player who generates advantage in the first week of a Major as reliably as anyone outside the very elite, before the deeper bracket compresses the margins his role depends on.

Chapter 5 — Tactical profile and mechanical anatomy

HLTV's current attribute profile for xertioN — a 47-map sample carrying a 1.09 Rating 3.0 — reads like a job description more than a stat sheet: Entrying 86, Utility 81, Opening 79, Firepower 71, Trading 26, Clutching 37, Sniping 0. Each number describes a facet of a single, coherent function. He is the spacetaker, the first man through the door, the player whose round-winning contribution is measured in territory ceded by the defence rather than in kills accumulated after the site is taken.

The Entrying score of 86 is elite and is the axis around which the rest of the profile rotates. Sycrone identified the characteristic at the moment of recruitment, contrasting him with the "calm, collected, calculated" Bymas: xertioN was "way more aggressive, very much a playmaker." The style was formed consciously in NXT — "a very aggressive and 'calculated' style of CS" — and the calculation is visible in the Utility score of 81, unusually high for a player associated with first-contact aggression. He is not a pure aim-entry who runs at sites with a rifle and nothing else; the grenade efficiency and protocol discipline of a trained academy system underpin the entries, which is part of why MOUZ's tactical structure could be rebuilt around him when he eventually took the captaincy. The Opening score of 79 reflects a high volume of opening duels by design, some of them against the best player in the world: with MOUZ repeatedly meeting Spirit, xertioN's role frequently placed him opposite Danil "donk" Kryshkovets. "In my role is very often having to take duels/playing against donk. In my opinion, he's the best player in the world, so it's always going to be a difficult challenge to compete against him in that sense," he said. When the duels go his way, they show up spectacularly: at IEM Cologne 2025 he recorded a 12-0 opening kill-death record in the two-map semi-final victory over Vitality, accompanying a 1.41 series rating.

The low scores are not defects so much as accounting artefacts of the role. Trading at 26 follows logically from going first: a player who initiates contact by definition cannot be traded by a teammate arriving behind him, and his death, when it comes early, opens the round for the second wave. Clutching at 37 reflects the same economics — an entry player spends health, utility and positioning in the opening seconds and is statistically far less likely to be alive in a two-versus-two than a lurker or an anchor. Firepower at 71 marks him as a strong rather than overwhelming pure fragger; his value is pressure and map control, not multikill volume. The historical data corroborates the reading. At ESL Pro League Season 19 in 2024, the event where the pieces clicked most completely, he averaged a 1.32 rating with 89.5 ADR, a 1.58 impact rating and a 76.5 percent KAST across fifteen maps without a single map below 1.05. At BetBoom Dacha Belgrade his ADR rose to 93.2 with a 1.46 impact. His 2024 season-long figure of 82.7 ADR ranked fifth among all players; in 2025, 82.1 ADR again placed fifth, with 106.4 damage per round in round wins also fifth. The consistency of those damage figures across two calendar years, while playing a role that maximises exposure to defensive counter-fire, is the strongest statistical argument for his standing.

The relationship with AWPer torzsi is the mechanism by which his entries are converted. Both came through NXT; the academy years inculcated a spacing intuition that sycrone explicitly banked on when constructing the main roster. When xertioN takes a site's entry duel and draws crosshair placement and utility, torzsi's AWP operates in the space that opens behind him. The pair remained together through every roster iteration of the era, and in 2026 torzsi publicly credited the new structure under xertioN's captaincy, saying "xertioN and sycrone want the best out of me." The Sniping score of 0 is a matter of inventory, not limitation; he has never been a secondary AWPer, and the profile's architecture assumes the rifle.

Chapter 6 — Team dynamics and leadership

The central professional relationships of xertioN's career have run, almost without interruption, through the MOUZ organisation. Sycrone discovered him, developed him in NXT, promoted him, and in 2026 became the coach of a team he himself now captains — "a joy to have a coach like him as my first coach as an IGL," xertioN said. The siuhy relationship was more complex and, ultimately, more consequential. The two were friends from FPL-C before NXT, where the teenager's request to be "let 'loose'" cemented a bond of trust. Reunited on the main roster in 2023, the fit was not automatic: "I couldn't find my footing in our system with siuhy," xertioN admitted at EPL Season 18, before a productive conversation restored the old synergy. When siuhy was benched in January 2025, the emotion was personal as much as tactical. "Us and Kamil have been through a lot together... in the end it was just better for both us and him to get a fresh beginning on different paths," he said.

Frozen, the veteran around whom the young core orbited, was the emotional ballast. "Frozen is always there to calm us down, and he's also there to crack jokes when it's needed," xertioN explained, noting the arrangement was negotiated: "We talked about the fact I don't want him to be too much of a father figure." Frozen's departure to FaZe in late 2023 removed that ballast and forced Brollan and, later, xertioN himself to absorb the communicative load. Brollan's own departure to HEROIC in July 2026 left xertioN and torzsi as the last remaining core members of the academy generation.

The arrival of Spinx in January 2025 carried a national dimension no other MOUZ signing had. "I have always thought a lot about playing with Lotan one day. He was the first Israeli player to win a Major, by far the best at that moment being an HLTV top 5 player of 2023, and since we play very different roles I was always curious how we would combine together," xertioN said. The 2026 overhaul added two more contrasting temperaments: jL on loan, whose "a bit arrogant in a good way" confidence xertioN valued, and the teenage academy graduate xelex, who "has incredible aim." Oldřich "PR" Nový, signed in July 2026, became the first external beneficiary of xertioN's captaincy, telling HLTV "I really like the way xertioN calls, because I have more responsibilities than before."

The captaincy itself, assumed full-time at PGL Astana in May 2026, reorganised the emotional economy of his game. "I was always a little bit on the emotional side as a player, I was also tilting a bit, but I'm now trying to make sure that it's in a good balance," he said. The work was concrete — eleven-hour practice days in the first week of the new system, post-practice film sessions with sycrone, and deliberate attention to lifestyle. "The most key part that people underestimate is your health as a player," he said, linking the physical work to a cognitive dependency: "my game is defined a lot by my creativity and when we get to the deep stages in tournaments my mind gets hit with a lot of fatigue."

Chapter 7 — The sustained era: 2025 and beyond

The 2025 season opened in catastrophe and never fully escaped the shadow of its first half. IEM Katowice, played with xelex as a stand-in after siuhy's benching was announced, produced four map losses and a last-place exit. Then Spinx arrived, Brollan was handed the captaincy, and PGL Cluj-Napoca delivered immediate vindication: a first trophy won in front of a crowd, a 1.09 rating and an EVP, capped by a 3-1 grand final victory over Falcons in which xertioN averaged 1.15 across the series with map ratings of 1.39, 1.22 and 1.65. "It was an amazing feeling to win in front of a crowd... It was what I and the team thought would be the first trophy of many more in the year," he said.

The prediction failed because of what stood in the way. The first half of 2025 belonged to Vitality, and MOUZ met them in four consecutive finals — ESL Pro League Season 21, BLAST Open Lisbon, IEM Dallas, and later the Austin Major semi-final — losing every one. At Lisbon they recovered from a 0-13 first map to lead the series 2-1 before losing; xertioN's grand-final ratings in the first two finals were 0.77 and 0.79. "To be completely honest, it was the hardest match-up I ever had... we were caught in the crosshair of maybe the best team of all time, and so you have to give them flowers," he said. The toll was psychological as much as statistical: "The first half a year took a big toll on us mentally, the losses and being so close so many times made it harder and harder to recover after each game we played."

"The first half a year took a big toll on us mentally, the losses and being so close so many times made it harder and harder to recover after each game we played."

The Austin Major offered partial redemption — his best big-stage block of the era, a 1.10 across Stage 3 and the playoffs, 1.08 in the Spirit quarter-final win and 1.23 even in the loss to the eventual champions. Then came the breakthrough everyone had waited for: at IEM Cologne 2025, MOUZ eliminated the six-trophy Vitality machine in the semi-final, xertioN posting a 1.41 rating and the 12-0 opening kill-death record. He chose it as his moment of the year. The grand final against Spirit the next day emptied the tank — a 0.87 in a three-map defeat — but the half-year arc bent upward from there: an EVP at BLAST Bounty Season 2, third place at ESL Pro League Season 22, and a 1.21 average with a 1.60-rated Inferno against Vitality at IEM Chengdu. He finished the year sixteenth in the Top 20, with three EVPs and 82.1 ADR fifth-best in the world — and the same unresolved tension that had capped 2024: a 0.89 grand-final average. His diagnosis was precise: "There's many things I need to unlock in the finals... I tend to overfocus on things that are more general." His stated goal for 2026 was blunt — "to win some fucking trophies and, most importantly, be a better person and player than I was this year."

The answer arrived in an unexpected form: the captaincy. After the April 2026 overhaul that promoted xelex and brought jL on loan, xertioN took over the in-game leadership full-time at PGL Astana, finished third, took an EVP, and topped the board in wins over Gentle Mates (1.52) and G2 (1.29). "I was a bit worried I would be this IGL that is just a burden, but so far, two games, I'm feeling pretty comfortable," he said. Sycrone publicly closed the door on alternatives in June — "I'm set on xertioN as an IGL" — and the results accumulated: a trophy at BLAST Bounty Season 2 in August, where MOUZ subdued Spirit, a run to the BLAST Open Porto final that included a 2-0 semi-final victory over Vitality, and an EVP at CS Asia Championships. The Porto final itself, a 1-3 loss to Spirit, and the 5-6th-place StarSeries Fall exit that followed — "We never showed up in this tournament" — marked the new regime's first sustained rough patch. By the autumn of 2026 his current Rating 3.0 stood at 1.09, and the project around him — torzsi, Spinx, xelex, PR, sycrone — was the youngest leadership test of his career.

Chapter 8 — Legacy, statistical pantheon and future horizon

The ledger, as it stands in October 2026, is substantial without being definitive. Berman has earned $745,934 in career prize money, won five of fifty-two LANs, collected ten EVP medals across three calendar years, and appeared twice in the HLTV Top 20 — fourteenth in 2024, sixteenth in 2025. MOUZ has been his only tier-1 home: 1,496 days of a 1,999-day professional career, the tenure beginning with an academy promotion and surviving every roster convulsion since. The team reached number one in the ranking for four weeks during this period. There are no Major titles and no MVP medals, the twin absences that separate his résumé from the ceiling of the Israeli players who preceded him.

The comparative frame is constrained by rarity. Very few Israeli players have sustained Top 20 presence across multiple years, and xertioN's two placings at twenty-two compare favourably with most career arcs at the same stage, while falling below the peak Spinx established with a fifth-place finish in 2023. Where the peer group is clearest is role function: among contemporary spacetakers, his combination of an 86 Entrying score, an 81 Utility score and two consecutive years of top-five ADR in the world constitutes a distinctive statistical signature, never dependent on defensive padding. The ten EVPs speak to a player whom selectors could rely on for the floor that was the explicit project of 2024: "The most important thing for me individually this year was to make sure my floor wasn't as low as it was last year."

The captaincy has added a second axis to the legacy question. Entry-fragger-to-IGL transitions at twenty-two are rare, and this one has been documented with unusual public candour — the eleven-hour days, the anti-eco frustrations, the sports psychologist, and the explicit statement that "I am much more vocal than any other IGL I've ever had in the past."

The future horizon is therefore double-tracked. On one track stands the individual ambition, articulated before 2025 and unfulfilled since: deeper playoff runs on arena stages, a first MVP-calibre surge at a Super-Elite event, and the finals-level focus he has identified as his remaining unlock. On the other stands the institutional ambition he accepted when he took the armband — to convert MOUZ's academy-born core, still anchored by himself and torzsi, into a side that can beat the teams that have habitually ended their tournaments: Spirit, the historic Vitality, and the FaZe that has taken him out of two Majors. He is twenty-two, he has played seven Majors and 1,496 days for one organisation, and the most interesting evidence of his career may be the chapter he is writing now, in the headset rather than on the scoreboard. "With me coming in as IGL, we have more direction in the game," he said at Astana. "This step was necessary for us to take a step forward as a team."
